Yesterday we celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maria Skłodowska – Curie. The extensive program of the festival included: a performance by students of the second grade (junior high school), prepared on the basis of the biography of the Nobel Prize winner, the “Skittles” experiment, illustrating the half-life, documentary films on the history of discoveries made by M. Skłodowska – Curie, lecture “A field trip to Chernobyl” and exhibitions prepared by students. The contest for the most interesting birthday card for Maria was also decided.
We hope that this unusual event will be remembered for a long time by the students and will help them to build awareness of the significance of the character and achievements of our Nobel Prize winner for world science.
